According to the definition of the European Council of Optometry and Optics (ECOO), “Optometry is a healthcare profession which is autonomous, educated and regulated (licensed/registered). Optometrists are the primary healthcare practitioners of the eye and visual system who provide comprehensive eye and vision care, which included refraction and dispensing, detection and management of disease of the eye, and the rehabilitation of conditions of the visual system”.
