Z-material
Menicon has succeeded to develop in 1997 an innovative material (material Z) and design for gas permeable lens, as the result of the long time research and development, with the aim to offer all the wearers benefits of long term corneal health, vision, comfort and wettability.
Chemical breakthrough
Past technology for rigid gas lens used to make the strength of lens material weaken as relatively increasing its oxygen permeability. However Menicon's breakthrough was that the new lens material enhances both oxygen permeability and material strength.
This chemical structure results in excellent mechanical properties, allowing the lens to be made significantly thinner than a typical rigid gas lens. As one of its specific characteristics, it can provide superior visual correction and show excellent performance against corneal astigmatism.
